Some of what’s going around on the Asheville food/restaurant scene:

-Where is Pho? From loyal Ashvegas reader Ian comes a question:

Any word on what’s up with the Vietnamese restaurant, Pho Fusion, at the Downtown Market. It was originally set to open in mid-August, but keeps getting pushed back. Now, it’s “early November.”

-Hacienda del Sol now open: The Hacienda del Sol on Merrimon Avenue near Weaverville is now open. It’s in the old location of Fraser’s seafood restaurant.

-Palm Beach Pizza and Ribs to open: From Asheville Citizen-Times food writer Carol Motsinger:

Within the next two weeks, Palm Beach Pizza and Ribs will be opening their first restaurant at 1939 Brevard Road in Arden.

Palm Beach Pizza and Ribs originated in West Palm Beach by co-owner, Carl Hansley, who owned 10 other restaurants in the south Florida area. The first Palm Beach Pizza and Ribs opened in 1995 in West Palm Beach.

Hansley, who has been in the food and beverage business for more than 40 years, was the original owner of “Two Guys Pizza & Ribs” restaurant in Hendersonville.

The new restaurant has been completely remodeled and opens its doors with indoor and outdoor dining, a custom-built bar area, and a stage area for musicians. There are also TVs and wireless Internet available for customers.

The Palm Beach Pizza and Ribs menu offers a delightful variety of appetizers, soups, salads, wings, ribs, burgers, subs, specialty pastas, an assortment of sides to include with your meal, mouth-watering pizzas, a children’s menu and desserts.

In addition to “Build Your Own Pizzas”, some of the specialty pizzas will include Traditional Italian, Kickin’ Chicken Alfredo, Maui Wowee, Shrimp Scampi Alfredo, Marguerita, and Garden Delight. Thin or regular pizza crust will be offered as well as organic vegetables, and gluten-free pizza dough will be available upon request.

In addition to all the meaty favorites available for lunch and dinner, homemade desserts offered will include Tiramisu cake, chocolate chip pecan pie, peanut butter pie, key lime pie, and homemade chocolate brownies with ice cream and hot fudge.

Co-owner, Terry Hawkins, has lived in the south Asheville area for the past 8 ½ years and will be the manager of the Brevard Road restaurant. The restaurant will offer catering for parties and events.

Plans are in the works to offer franchising for Palm Beach Pizza and Ribs.
