Asheville Outdoor Cinema brings movie magic to Carrier Park

Asheville Outdoor Cinema looks like a ton of fun. From loyal reader Shawn, a press release:

Asheville Outdoor Cinema has announced that it is bringing an all new season of movie screenings to Carrier Park in Asheville.

The 2017 season will start Saturday Aug. 26 with the screening of The Princess Bride and a new movie will be screened on the following Saturdays: Sept. 2 and 9, and Oct. 7 and 14. Tickets are now available online and the company is welcoming everyone in Asheville to join this amazing event.

Asheville Outdoor Cinema was created by Stirling Gardner and Shawn Verbrugghe, with an aim to bring quality entertainment for the people of North Carolina.

“I spent the last ten years living in Los Angeles where outdoor movie screening events happen every weekend, so when I moved to Asheville and saw how active and fun the people were, I knew I wanted to re-create the same experiences I had in L.A.” Gardner said.

”I brought the idea up to Shawn who already runs three successful interactive entertainment experiences, namely The Amazing Pubcycle, The Conundrum escape room, and SummerXCamp. We met, clicked and Asheville Outdoor Cinema was born.” he added.

In addition to fun movies, the Asheville Outdoor Cinema will have live music, outdoor games, food trucks, ice cream, lemonade, as well as local craft beer and wine. The movies this season include (in chronological order) The Princess Bride, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Super Troopers, and The Shining. Doors will open at around 6 p.m. (check website for exact times).
