Asheville on Bikes to host fourth annual Bike of the Irish on Saturday

Share

Press release here:

On Saturday, March 19th, Asheville on Bikes hosts our fourth annual Bike of the Irish, a community ride throughout our city.

During this ride, Asheville on Bikes will celebrate the recent Hominy Creek Greenway expansion and we’d like you  to come celebrate with us.

The Hominy Creek Greenway is the result of pooling resources from across our community.  The City of Asheville, Buncombe County, several individuals (including many of you) and organizations collaborated to contribute to expanding our community’s greenway system.

We’ve worked hard together and now it’s time to celebrate. Here are a couple of ways for you to participate in the celebration:

1) Pedal the Bike of the Irish

Join Asheville on Bikes for the community ride. The ride’s agenda is:

12:30pm – Gather at Asheville City Hall.

1pm – Ride Begins.

2:30pm – Celebrate the Hominy Creek Greenway

3pm – Culminate at the Wedge Brewery

2) Park & Partake in Greenway Celebration

Meet up with Asheville on Bikes during the ride.

The celebration spot is very near the former National Guard Armory at the intersection of Brevard, Shelburne, and Hominy Creek Roads in West Asheville . Below the Armory is paved parking. Park in the lot and an Asheville on Bikes representative will greet you and direct you to celebration spot, a few easy steps away.

At 2:30, the Bike of the Irish participants will congregate at the celebration spot. Special words will be offered and Asheville on Bikes has a celebration prepared. The celebration should last no longer then 15minutes, and the highlight will be the “raising of the water bottles” in a toast to our collective accomplishment (so bring one!). The celebration takes place in a natural area so sensible shoes are suggested.
