I hope everyone clicks over to check out the work of Katie at her etsy site, Thimble Kiss. Katie makes amazing floral and feather hair clips. Every lady needs at least one to spice up that wardrobe.
A couple of months ago Katie, a loyal Ashvegas reader, suggested I highlight local crafters who sell on etsy. I thought Katie was right on the mark – highlighting one local etsy seller a day will hopefully boost exposure and sales. Kicking the feature off during the holiday shopping season makes sense, too, though I hope to keep this going beyond the end of the year.
Thanks to Katie for her thoughtfulness. Check out her awesome responses, and consider buying from her.

Q: Please summarize what you make and sell on Etsy.
A: I make and sell floral and feather hair fascinators/clips. All sizes, from HUGE to really small.
Q: What item makes you sad to let go? In other words, what do you have a special connection to?
A: I’m really attached to ‘The Alice‘. Its a huge, white, peony hair clip with blush bottom petals. It was the first really huge piece I made and the focus of the first photoshoot I did for my etsy store. I love it!
Q: What are you inspired by, whether it be something in nature or a musician, artist or other creative wellspring?
A: I’m really inspired by people watching. Here in Asheville, we’re lucky to have some really ballsy citizens. I figure if people aren’t afraid to go out in gothic wedding dresses to Ingles then the population probably wouldn’t be too shocked by a huge flower in someones hair. I’m also a hopeless romantic and a sucker for anything whimsical. I surf wedding blogs a lot and think that I get a lot of my inspiration from those.
Q: With the economy the way it is and the holiday shopping season coming up, what’s your perfect stocking stuffer or small gift?
A: Hair accessories were always my favorite stocking stuffers as a kid. I think that ‘The Delia’ in my shop, would be perfect.
Q: What else would you like people to know about you?
A: I’m a pretty simple jeans and t-shirt girl. I usually give myself fifteen minutes from the time I wake up to be in my car on my way to work. I think that my clips are perfect for people like me because I can literally slide a flower in my hair on the way out the door and have all of the accessories I need for the day.
My etsy store is really new and I’m still just getting my store stocked with the millions of items in piles all over my craft room. I love custom work and would be happy to help if there is something in particular you’re looking for! I give discounts for wedding packages too!

Crafter shout-out: this is a GREAT idea! Love Katie’s work (hair clips are my weakness) and adore the idea of *local* etsy crafters getting a blog spotlight. I’m already a fan of this new feature. Love it, love it, love it. Just sorry BlogAsheville didn’t think of it first!
Anyone who uses "ASHVEGAS" in the message to seller will receive 10% off any one item in my shop through December!
Shop handmade! Its the best way to make sure the person your giving to gets all of the love that was put into making the gift.
What a great way to showcase etsy sellers. Thanks so much for doing this!
I’m loving the flower clips…
Katie, your welcome! No worries; you’re on it. I need folks to keep me straight. 🙂
Thanks Jason. Sorry to give you a hard time! = )
