Here’s the petition to local businesses asking them to remove Waking Life coffee products from shelves. Several businesses have already done so.
In addition, local business owners are pledging to donate 10 percent of sales this coming week to Our Voice. Here’s an example, from Harvest Records in West Asheville:
In response to the recently unveiled, repeatedly despicable actions of the Waking Life owners, we are joining our friends & fellow businesses in our beloved neighborhood by donating 10% of our sales all this next week to Our VOICE — a non-profit crisis intervention and prevention agency which serves victims of sexual violence, age 13 through adult, in Buncombe County. Thanks to Orbit DVD, BattleCat CoffeeBar, Short Street Cakes & many others for leading the way.
Finally, some local residents have organized a protest outside Waking Life at 7 a.m. Monday morning.

Most of us have made some mistakes and we’re all fallible.
If one is offended by Jared and Jacob’s views, one can choose not to patronize their coffee shop. Just bear in mind we’ve all done some things we regret.
Most of us have said or wrote dumbass things at some times in our lives. Jared and Jacob are human and fallible just like the rest of us. One has the freedom to not patronize their coffee shop if one feels offended by their postings.
Just keep in mind we all make mistakes and hopefully learn from them.
Asheville progressive duo make national news.
“A North Carolina community is reeling after the misogynist online personas of Waking Life Espresso owners were exposed.”

“progressive duo”, eh?
They seem more like a couple of your Objectivist buddies than ‘progressives’. In fact, here they are mocking “liberals” who come into their coffee shop:

But don’t let the truth stop you from cynically exploiting a sad situation for cheap political points. Gotta go with your strong suit, right?
Repentance, sacrifice, forgiveness, absolution, redemption, salvation. I sense a pattern.
And these hipsters say they need some time for “introspection.” I guess that’s a ham-fisted euphemism for prayer. Ha. Introspection, my ass. They are looking deeply inward for an alternative to packing up and moving to another progressive town.
Keeping their business open at this point would be a miracle.
I wonder if the over 1,700 Facebook followers and 880 Twitter followers have thought to Un-Like and Un-Follow them! One could easily forget and this one step could make a big impact!
