Asheville businesses: N.C. Dept. of Commerce setting up 2013 Facebook/Twitter contest giveaways

From today’s newsletter it seems the Dept. of Commerce is setting up 2013 Facebook and Twitter giveaways with N.C. businesses using its own FB page and Twitter account, which both have large followings.

Past giveaways have included a tickets to an event at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden near Charlotte and a five-day crafting retreat at the John C. Campbell Folk School. In exchange for tickets and prizes from partners, the Division  develops creative materials for and hosts each sweepstakes via a Facebook promotions app.

The Visit North Carolina FB page has over 55,000 followers, and its Twitter account (@visitnc) over 14,000.

Social media opportunities available as sweepstakes continue in 2013

Using the Division’s Facebook page and its Twitter account to promote seasonal events and attractions have been popular with both potential visitors and partners, and the Division is now scheduling partners for its social media sweepstakes for the first six months of 2013. Throughout the fall, the Division worked with partners across the state to promote seasonal events and attractions via weekly sweepstakes on the Division’s Facebook page and biweekly trivia on its Twitter account. Giveaways have ranged from a family 4-pack of tickets for events such as Autumn at Oz and Bootanical at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden to a 5-day crafting retreat at the John C. Campbell Folk School. In exchange for partner-provided tickets, the Division has developed creative materials for and hosted each sweepstakes via a Facebook-compliant promotions app. Prize packages were promoted throughout the giveaway period on the Visit North Carolina Facebook and Twitter accounts.
