Asheville Beer Guy: Thirsty Monk to brew beer in Biltmore Park, expand

Share

From Tony Kiss, aka The Beer Guy for the Asheville Citizen-Times:

The beer news keeps coming today. Thirsty Monk South is leaving its home at Gerber Village on Hendersonville Road and next year will move into a new spot at Biltmore Park. The Gerber location will remain open through late January. The Biltmore Park spot will include a four barrel brewery and 3,000 square feet of space.

It’s my understanding that these moves do not affect the Thirsty Monk’s downtown location.

Killer location for the relocated Monk South: 2 Town Square! Out of the tourist zone, more in the locals zone, easy walking distance for BP residents.

I love every beer I’ve tried from the microbrewery that’s being run out of the south location. If moving helps expand that operation, I am all for it. My vote is that more successful Asheville restaurants move to Biltmore Park to local it up a bit– Neo Burrito’s a good start, but they can do more! Rosetta’s South, I’m looking at you.

Western Carolina Students, Echo-Gitty up! Sounds like a great place to grab a beer after class.

That is awesome news and I can’t wait. The right businesses in Biltmore Park make twice the profits they would in other locations due to the forward thinking of the developer.

And before all you hipsters start bashing Biltmore Park Town Square, you don’t spend money there any way or anywhere else for that matter.Gitty up!
