TampaBay.com has a short interview with Patti Digh. Here it is:
Patti Digh is the author of Life Is a Verb: 37 Days to Wake Up, Be Mindful and Live Intentionally, an expert on diversity and co-founder of the Circle Project, which “uses art, story, and theater to help individuals build more inclusive communities that connect, collaborate, and create.” We caught up with the author, who lives in Asheville, N.C., before a recent appearance at Barnes & Noble USF St. Petersburg.
What is on your nightstand?
Billy Collins’ Ballistics. I constantly refer to him in my writing. I also have Psalm, another collection of poetry, by a woman I met at a book event in Charleston (S.C.), Carol Ann Davis. She’s got an incredible approach to language. I’ve also got Charles Baxter’s Soul Thief.
When you think of your work with the Circle Project, is there a book or author that gave you inspiration?
Richard Powers and The Time of Our Singing. It’s a work of genius. It’s the best thing that I’ve read on race in America.
