Artist at work

This artist, named Lori-Gene, has an exhibit up at the gallery 16 Patton, close to Pack Square, that you should check out. And over the weekend, she showed the public how she can work. She had several musicians come in, and Lori-Gene sketched them.

What was interesting was how she appeared to use the individual musicians’ music to inspire her. She would move to the music – sometimes erratically, but still, it was a fascinating process to watch. What looked like just a bunch of scribbles ended up being a wonderfully wrought portrait. Her work is really amazing. Definitely check it out.

More galleries need to do this – bring in the artist and show us how the artist relates to their work. Make a real connection between artist, work, and viewer/buyer. It makes it all so much richer.
