Arlo comes to LEAF

Share

We heart the Lake Eden Arts Festival. Big. And we know it’s still several months off, but we can dream a little can’t we? Yes, we can. We can also mark our calendars. The spring edition of the LEAF will be May 11-13.

We’re psyched about the line-up. The headliner is none other than Arlo Guthrie. We last saw Arlo more than 10 years ago at the old Be Here Now venue in downtown Ashvegas. Arlo is cool. Way cool. You’ll be mesmerized by his wizard’s hair and his incredible presence.

What I would like to know is why LEAF for the last year or two has used out of towners for their fireshow when Ashevegas has one of the best fire troupes in the country, Unifire Theatre. Uninfre did the shows a year ago under the name Djinntana but were cut after they put on what I consider to be one of their best shows in 2005. What happened to supporting local artist? The Unifire performers practice once a week and choreograph an interesting story line but now I have to drive to Jamestown or Puerto Rico to see them. What’s up with Leaf?

I was at that Be Here Now Show with Arlo!…….man I miss Be Here Now. No other venue has been able to capture its magic.
