The Hooterville Times-News has some decent coverage of this year’s Apple Festival, with a couple of stories and a photo gallery (though I have to say my photos are better than theirs.)
One story notes that attendence at the festival is down, with most people blaming high gas prices:
“We’ve had good foot traffic, but it’s definitely not as busy this year,” Palmer-Hill said, who
also serves as chairwoman of the Downtown Hendersonville Inc. Board. “It’s the gas, I think.”
Ya think? Last year, organizers claim the fest drew 300,000. I was there Saturday afternoon, and I can tell you that the crowd was nowhere near the Bele Chere crowds of earlier this year.
