Acupuncture and pilates studio buys building, expands on Asheville’s South Slope

Press release here. The South Slope has a new business.

In order to better serve customers and the Asheville community, Clasique Acupuncture & Pilates Studio on South Lexington Avenue will move to 50 McCormick Place on the edge of downtown and South Slope in Spring 2016. Clasique will add 3400 sq. ft. to its whole-person wellness center in order to evolve with the needs of its clientele. Business owner Brooke Tyler and husband Austin Tyler are purchasing the 50 McCormick Place property which has been vacant for over two years.

Since 2009, the Clasique studio doors have been open to anyone striving to improve their quality of life. The team and clients grew beyond the walls of their 1200 sq ft space in 2014 and has been searching for the right location since. With the move to McCormick Place, the business will have the ability to offer clients a larger, more convenient space with the same high quality services they’re known for providing.

“With this move, we’ll be able to offer clients accessibility in location and parking, as well as an opportunity to attend more individual sessions and appointments, group Pilates classes, and educational workshops and community events,” said Clasique owner, Brooke Tyler. “Our top priority still is, and will always be, our clients. We’re here for them – to meet them where they are and take them where they want to be.”

Working with local builder Blake Vaden and architect Brent Campbell, Tyler is confident that Clasique is heading towards a truly customized space in the ideal location to serve the Asheville community.

About Brooke Tyler

Brooke Tyler is the founder and owner at Clasique. Most importantly, she is closely connected with her clients and the community as she instructs Pilates clients and classes, and also sees patients as a licensed acupuncturist.

Tyler completed her Pilates training at Metropolitan Pilates Studio in Seattle with Dorothee VandeWalle in early 2003, and is a teacher trainer of the Classical Pilates method. She began teaching in Asheville in 2005 at Pilates studios and fitness centers, until deciding to create her own space and enter the entrepreneurial world.

Tyler graduated from Asheville’s acupuncture college Daoist Traditions in 2009, and with the help of Mountain BizWorks, opened Clasique the same year. Beginning as a sole practitioner of the business, she provided both Pilates and acupuncture services to her clientele. Following a natural progression of growth in the business, Tyler’s team of service providers at Clasique now includes ten people. As a Pilates teacher trainer, she has mentored and trained all four of her Pilates instructors, with active current apprentices in the teacher training program. In addition, the three acupuncturists working with her at Clasique all graduated from our local Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medicine. With her intention set on providing an excellent place of work for her staff, high-quality customer service, and a positive inviting space, Clasique is a focal point for health care for many individuals and families in our community.
About Clasique Acupuncture & Pilates Studio

Clasique offers the unique combination of acupuncture and Pilates in one studio, and although they thrive independently, they are quite aligned in what they offer: integrity and unity of the mind, body, and spirit. “We are helping people feel strong at the core of who they are, and then also finding a way of moving through their lives with ease,” Tyler says, “we see our clients as whole people, and yes, we teach some really challenging athletic workouts, but we also work with people who have a lot of limitations and simply help them feel comfortable, strong, and confident in their bodies.” The crossover of clients participating in both acupuncture and Pilates is over three quarters of the clientele. A testament to the connection between these modalities for maintaining health and keeping the mind and body connected.

Classical Pilates offerings include private lessons, group equipment classes, and group mat classes. All instructors are highly trained and the workouts are personalized for clients of all levels and with all goals.

Classical Chinese medicine is the foundation of the acupuncture work, and includes Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha, and custom essential oil blends. Treatments are offered in a private setting and are affordably priced.
