A dead ex-president and some other depressing news

Share

Here are a few WLOSer tidbits of info. Because it’s the holidays, we’ve been inconsistent in catching the news. But here goes:

A dead ex-president
Here’s how WLOSers covered the death of former President Gerald R. Ford: they talked to some guy named “Gerald Ford” who lives in town, and went to an old folks home and found somebody who went to the same high school as the former prez. Seriously.

Bad wreck
A car heading down McDowell Avenue hit a woman, dragged her and then hit a wall. The cops said the driver was not speeding and had not been drinking.

Armed robbery
The Enchanged Forrest store on Merrimon Ave. was the target of an armed robbery. Cops were looking for a suspect.

Zoning battle shaping up
Buncombe County commissioners are working on a zoning plan for the county, and WLOSers have apparently just figured this out.

Damn, Jay. That’s horrible. It was horrible before I knew you knew the woman, of course.

Sending healing vibes to Lucille.

The woman hit on McDowell is my good friend Lucille. She is in Mission in critical condition. She is an active member and long standing employee of Jubilee and is known as a generous, sweet and truly caring soul. This was a freak accident and there’s a lot I could say but won’t out of respect for her privacy. It’s been hard for all of us so sending some good vibrations her way would be much appreciated.
