ASHEVILLE – A woman who sustained injuries in a Monday evening altercation with a neighbor has died in the hospital.
Margaret Jones Cable, birth date 2/19/1930, of Crowell Square Court, died at about 11:30 a.m. today at Mission.
Asheville police on Monday arrested Rebecca Ruth Krueger, birth date 4/5/1947, also of Crowell Square Court, for Assault Inflicting Serious Injury on Ms. Cable.
Ms. Krueger had reportedly pushed her against a post and then against a door during an argument. After Ms. Cable hit the door, she lost consciousness and was transported to Mission with serious head injuries.
Ms. Krueger’s bond was set at $20,000.
Police detectives, in consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, are awaiting preliminary autopsy results to determine further charges.
The autopsy will be conducted at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Wake Forest sometime tomorrow.
