Updated Saturday night: Campaign officials say Sunday’s Jill Biden event has been cancelled due to “disaster preparedness and local security concerns.”

From Register of Deeds Drew Reisinger on Twitter: “Due to the potential impact of Hurricane Sandy in NC, Dr. Jill Biden’s canvass events on Sunday, Oct 28 will be cancelled.”

Where’s our Obama visit? 12 Bones stands ready for another round.

But the Second Lady, Joe Biden’s wife Dr. Jill Biden, is headed our way. Also part of the visit is Jill and Joe’s son Beau Biden, the Attorney General of the state of Delaware.

From WSPA:

The Second Lady will be in Asheville this weekend.

Dr. Jill Biden and Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden will make a stop on the campaign trail in Western North Carolina Sunday.

The pair plans to drum up support for the Obama/Biden campaign.

The event will take place at the Asheville OFA North Carolina Office on Hilliard Avenue at 3:50 p.m.

Obama for America offices are located at 230 Hilliard Avenue on the corner of S. French Broad and Hilliard, across from Aston Park and the United Way.

The Asheville Citizen-Times story about Biden’s visit is here. It notes the Republican response:

Obama hasn’t campaigned in the state since his party’s convention in Charlotte in September, said Rob Lockwood, spokesman for the state Republican Party.

The party put together an airport runway in an alley in Winston-Salem on Thursday, complete with an Obama campaign logo and sign that said, “Land here,” as Obama flew over on his way from Virginia to Florida, Lockwood said.

Republican notables U.S Sen. Richard Burr, U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx and party Chairman Robin Hayes attended.
