broadway_bewery_asheville_2015Jay Lurie, a real estate broker with the Real Estate Center in Asheville, has announced via Facebook that a new “neighborhood brewery” is coming to Broadway Street. The location is the former Alan Shaw hardware store there on Broadway, near its intersection with Merrimon Avenue.

So far this year, brewery expansion has been the name of the game, rather than announcements and plans for new brewery openings. Still, the new Bhramari Brewhouse at 101 S. Lexington Ave. (behind The Orange Peel on Asheville’s South Slope) is preparing to open any day now. And there’s talk of more, though there haven’t been any official announcements.

Yesterday, a former Oskar Blues brewer and longtime home brewer told me about his plans to open Blue Ghost Brewing, a nano brewery in Fletcher.

    Another brewery. Yay.

On Friday night, I actually had a young bum ask me for “a dollar for a beer”. Not for food. Not for housing. Not for clothing.

    For a beer.

Thanks, “Beer City USA”. You are so progressive.

Ayyyy another bullshit brewery. You sure we don’t need another grocery store or hotel instead?
