A woman was assaulted and robbed in the Pack Place parking deck between 2:45 and 3 a.m Saturday night. An assailant knocked her down, threatened her, took her money and tried to put his hand up her skirt.

More from the Citizen-Times:

“I just want it to be out there,” the woman said of her story. “People don’t think about downtown Asheville, that you can’t walk around by yourself and you can’t.”

The woman said she passed by the man as she walked to her car from College Street to the Biltmore Avenue garage. She said she noticed the man “out of the corner of my eye.”

She reached her car on the second floor of the garage, had unlocked it and was halfway in the car “and that man was running at me,” she said.

“Before I could get the door shut, he ripped the door open. He grabbed me and threw me on the ground. He pinned me down. He said I need some money, and I don’t want to have to shoot or stab you,” she said.

Police are looking for a black male in his 30s, who was wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gloves. The man had short hair, a slim build and was around six feet tall, according to APD Sergeant Sean Aardema.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Asheville Police Department at 252-1110 or call Asheville Buncombe Crime Stoppers at 255-5050.
