The Western North Carolina Alliance invites the community to celebrate 30 years of protecting our mountains, rivers and forests at “A Night in the Forest” from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 11.
Hosted by the Asheville Affiliates, which selected WNCA from a pool of more than 30 applicants, the celebration will be at the beautiful Lift Studios in the River Arts District, and will feature food, drinks, live music – and fun!
The Asheville Affiliates have held parties to support Asheville’s non-profit community for more than 10 years, honoring their mission to host “Parties with a Purpose!”
WNCA is the region’s oldest grassroots environmental non-profit. Utilizing a combination of advocacy, scientific research, and community collaboration, WNCA and its chapters and partners throughout Western North Carolina work to protect the natural heritage of our region so that people and the environment can thrive.
“A Night in the Forest” will celebrate 30 years of WNCA’s efforts, which have led to the end of clear-cutting in our national forests, the passage of the landmark Clean Smokestacks Act, the opening of the French Broad River Paddle Trail, and the recent launch of the “Asheville Beyond Coal” campaign, among many more success stories and ongoing efforts.
The Lift, our venue for the evening, features unique and colorful artwork by local artist Daniel McClendon, and is a beautiful mix of old-world industrial and chic contemporary located in a 105-year-old historical building at 349 Depot St.
The event will feature live music by local musicians, hors d’oeuvres by Colorful Palate Catering, beer from Catawba Valley Brewing, wine from Skyland Distributing and some extra-special limited cocktails.
Tickets are $30 at the door or may be purchased for $25 in advance at www.wnca.org.
