ASHEVILLE – The Western North Carolina Alliance is offering a seven-session book discussion course that will give participants an opportunity to explore the meaning of sustainability and to learn about its applications from individual, societal and global perspectives.

The word “sustainability” is used so freely that it can be hard to understand what it means, or how it applies to our lives and to the community as a whole. This course, called “Choices for Sustainable Living,” is designed to help participants consider the ties between their lifestyle choices and the subsequent impacts on the planet. Course participants will also learn steps they can take to move toward having more ecologically sustainable organizations, lifestyles and communities.

Participants will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, from Jan. 23-March 6, at the Battery Park Book Exchange & Champagne Bar in downtown Asheville.

Cost is $45 for WNCA members and $60 for non-members (which includes a one-year WNCA membership).

Pre-registration is required by Friday, Jan. 17.

To guarantee your space in the course, contact WNCA Education and Outings Coordinator Isabelle Rios by calling (828) 258-8737, ext. 201, or via email at [email protected].

Spaces are limited.
