The Asheville Citizen-Times reports on Linamar:

Canada-based Linamar Corp. will hire an additional 250 workers for its Skyland manufacturing plant. Those jobs will come on top of the 400 positions announced last year when the company moved into the old Volvo Construction plant. The new jobs also come as part of a $75 million investment in the manufacturing building at the Lake Julian property.

Russ Bowen of WLOS tweeted the following a day or two ago:

Sources tell me Linamar to make jobs announcement next week 200 jobs

Linamar, as you’ll recall, is a  manufacturer of internal engine and driveline parts headquartered in Canada. Last year, the company announced it was opening a plant in Buncombe County, in the former Volvo plant. Buncombe County offered up nearly $7 million in tax incentives, and the state of North Carolina pitched in another $9 million. Linamar said it was going to create a total of more than 400 jobs that pay an average of more than $39,000 a year.

The announcement Bowen hints at could come at this week during the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner.
