12_bones_2012WLOSer Frank Kracher reports that the 12 Bones restaurant owners – Tom Montgomery and Sabra Kelley – who founded the popular barbecue restaurant eight years ago have sold the place to new owners. The Asheville Citizen-Times says the new owners are Bryan King and Angela Koh, who have worked at restaurant locations since November 2011.

12 Bones received national acclaim when it won a Good Morning America barbecue sauce competition. Then Sen. Barack Obama stopped by 12 Bones when he was on the campaign trail in 2008. As President, Obama visited the restaurant in 2010 when he and the First Lady vacationed here. And earlier this year, when Obama stopped in Asheville to talk jobs, he again mentioned his love of 12 Bones.

Here’s my first blog post about 12 Bones, from way back in 2005. Yes, this blog has been around that long.

    I wonder why they sold?

Is it because there will be a road built through the River Arts location in the future?

Surprising news. Let’s hope it was a turn-key sale, and not much will change!
