Join us for the premiere of four conservation-based documentaries – each 5 to 7 minutes long – focusing on the unique biodiversity and ecosystems of Western North Carolina. Learn about some of the issues facing our region’s biodiversity and especially some of the inspiring success stories of wildlife and habitat conservation. Explore high elevation spruce-fir forests and Carolina Flying Squirrels, bog turtles in NC wetlands, and more.
Pisgah Brewing is proud to support Wild South and Warren Wilson College with the release of a series of specialty craft beers this year to represent each NC ecosystem covered by WWC and Wild South this year. May 13 from 6 to 8:30, Pisgah tasting room is hosting a special event film screening of the films and releasing a “Bog Turtle dark red ale.”
Wild Connections is a collaboration between WildSouth, Ashvegas, and the Warren Wilson College Department of Environmental Studies. Our goal is to help you connect more deeply with the amazing variety of local ecosystems that constitute the southern Appalachian Mountains through a series of informative student essays and short documentaries that we hope will coax you to enjoy, value, and protect them. WWC students are embarking to study five unique ecosystems (high elevation spruce/fir forests, mountain bogs, rich cove forests, grassy balds, and the Hickory Nut Gorge) to highlight conservation successes and wildlife habitat protection.
WWC film students have created a short film series to shine a light on theses wild places and wild things, and Pisgah Brewing Co is hosting a film screening event on May 13 to unveil the films, celebrate our wild places, and release the first in a series of “Conservation Brews.”
