Haywood Road in West Asheville continues to be red hot with new development. Here’s a quick round-up to keep you in the loop:

-Butcher shop: Foothills Meats is planning to open a combination butcher shop and bar at 697 Haywood Road (the former Bandidos restaurant) by September, the Mountain Xpress reports. The business doesn’t have a name yet, but Foothills owner Casey McKissick says there will be everything from house-made deli meats to burgers and Cuban sandwiches. Award-winning chef Owen Lane is moving from Nashville to helm the operation, the Xpress reports.

-BimBeriBon: This new restaurant, in the same little Haywood Road shopping center as the Foothills Meats spot, will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner when it gets open later this year. The location is also 697 Hayood Road, in the former Bugermeister’s/BarleyCorn spot. The eatery is the work of veteran Asheville restaurateur Reza Setayesh.

-Local 604: As the name suggests, 604 Haywood Road will be home to a new bodega that will sell beer, cigs, sodas, snacks and more. The business is the brainchild of two local musicians, Jamie Howton and Chris Johnson, the Asheville Citizen-Times reports.

-Haywood Country Club: There’s a new bar is in the works for the old I&J convenience store at 662 Haywood Road, reports Asheville Grit. It will be called Haywood Country Club, and its the work of a group of other local bar hounds: Corey Israel and Trevor Smith, formerly of the Cascade Lounge down on Amboy Road, and Benjy Greene and Scott Thomas of Banks Ave. bar on the South Slope. -Fleetwood’s Chapel: This new business, which will be part vintage shop, part beer and part wedding chapel, should be opening soon at 476 Haywood Road in the former Daggit’s Pawn shop. This is a project of vintage purveyors Christi and Simon Whiteley, who run the Asheville Flea for Y’all vintage and craft pop-up market, and their business partner Mary Kelley, the Asheville Citizen-Times reports.

-Haywood Commons: At 507 Haywood Road, right across the street from Fleetwood’s, Rob and Hannah Star of the Belly Up Food Truck are planning to open a new restaurant with a separate bar in back (possible named The Whale, according to permits), the Asheville Citizen-Times reports.

-Anchor Bar and Kitchen: Anchor Bar and Kitchen is the name of a new restaurant planned for old Buffalo Nickel space at 747 Haywood Road. Barley’s owner Jimi Rentz has pulled construction permits for the new restaurant. More pizza, perhaps?

-Westville Pub expansion and Triple Seven Brewhouse: The Westville Pub is expanding into empty space next door, 777 Haywood Road, to open Triple Seven Brewhouse. The extra space will also give the pub more room to expand and upgrade its kitchen, owner Drew Smith tells the Asheville Citizen-Times.

And let’s not forget that Sub Grasso and Jargon restaurants just opened.
