What’s happening on North Lexington Avenue? A slew of new small businesses opening

What’s the story along North Lexington Avenue, one of downtown’s most eclectic street? The story is one of continued success for independently owned small businesses. From my recent column for the Asheville Citizen-Times:

LP Squared and Twist Boutique, both women’s clothing shops, and Jati Tua, a furniture store, all opened in newly created retail space that’s part of a bigger renovation project called the Rankin Press Lofts. A new dress shop and Laughing Mask Candies, a candy store, also opened, while Vintage Moon, a thrift store, reopened on the strip.

Two new stores are on the way: Devotion Organics, an organic body products shop, and Old North Supply House, a men’s clothing store. Stirhaus, a new restaurant, is planned for space next door to the Lexington Avenue Brewery, which is expanding and will operate the eatery. (And a pho restaurant is coming to the former Greenlight Cafe space next to Bobo Gallery.)

Also, the Laughing Mermaid Soap Co. is moving to a higher-profile store front at the corner of Lexington and College Street.
