Weaverville restaurant update: Athens is out, Moe’s is in

A couple of quick Weaverville restaurant tidbits, which I pick up from Northern Buncombe Happenings.

First, the Athens restaurant announced that it was closing after 17 years. Here’s what the Athens restaurant owners posted on FB:

After having been a part of the community for 17 wonderful years, we have made the difficult decision to close The Athens Restaurant. Our last day of operation will be on Saturday, March 1, 2014. We would like to thank everyone for your support and friendship throughout the years. We have enjoyed being a part of this community and watching your families grow along with ours. With our lease expiring, it is time for us spend more time with our families. We appreciate the opportunities you have given us to be involved in the community in so many ways— school functions, church events, fundraisers, sports teams, clubs, etc. We have loved every minute of our time serving Weaverville and its surrounding areas. And while we will miss being able to serve our customers and friends daily, we look forward to seeing you out and about as we will continue to be involved in the community!

Second, NBH says Moe’s Original barbecue restaurant is coming to the former Jack of Hearts space on Main Street in Weaverville. Jack of Hearts closed suddenly last year.
