The National Climatic Data Center has a Probability of White Christmas map, which shows that here in Asheville, our chances come in at less than 10 percent. Ray’s Weather says we’ll have plenty of rain, though.

Ray’s Weather also has a prediction for the 2012-13 winter season. In his winter fearless forecast, he’s calling for slightly above normal snowfall and slightly below normal temperatures.

Of course, you never know. Ray readily admits that he’s been way off the past couple of years. Last year, Asheville had no winter. None. No snow. Relatively warm temps. The year before, Asheville saw a fairly rough winter, and a record-breaking Christmas snowfall.

Ray says we’ll have 16 inches of snow in Asheville this year. Guess we’ll watch and see.
