The Asheville-based Solis Films will be shooting a feature film around town starting this weekend. The movie, titled Luke and Jo, will star Erik Odom, an actor who played “Peter” in 2012’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

The local filmmakers, with director Joshua Overbay at the helm, plan to shoot in Asheville, Old Fort and Black Mountain, according to a news release. The shooting is planned to wrap Dec. 16.

The movie is looking for extras. Check the Luke and Jo page on Facebook for more info.

Luke and Jo “explores the power of human connection as two people collide at the lowest point in their lives,” according to the release. The setting is a winter film festival, and the two characters are nearing breakdowns. “As their bizarre and unexpected week unfolds, their lives become progressively intertwined, ultimately revealing the depth of their scars, their present fears, and the meaning of trust,” according to the release.

Solis Films is a content creation studio in Asheville. Aside from making feature films, the offers video production and creative services to brands looking for creative ways to get their messages heard, according to the company.

Solis Films’ first feature film, As It Is In Heaven, went on play in theaters across the country, including New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and New Orleans, according to the company. It was chosen by The New York Times as a “Critic’s Pick,” and received high praise from The Hollywood Reporter, Village Voice, the Chicago Sun-Times, RogerEbert.com, the Seattle Times, and other major publications, the company says.

Is this a good career move for Erik Odom? Does Edwin Arnaudin review movie teaser trailers? It would be interesting to get his take on this one.
