Blue Water Seafood closed its Asheville and Hendersonville locations suddenly last year, citing the tough economy. Now it’s back.

From the Hendersonville Times-News:

For Reiner Lawitschka, it’s all about sourcing the freshest fish available, cooking it to bring out the best flavor, and thoughtfully pairing it with the best wines.

Lawitschka, the new owner of Blue Water Seafood, is keeping the restaurant and market’s focus on bringing only the freshest possible seafood to the mountains.

“It’s not easy to find dependable suppliers to find excellent, fresh seafood on a regular basis,” said Lawitschka. He bought the business from David and Tracy Griffin, who started Blue Water Seafood in 2003.

On a visit to the area this fall, Lawitschka and his wife, Sofia, saw the sign announcing the closing of Blue Water Seafood business and the decision to relocate to Hendersonville was solidified.

The couple have moved here from Miami Beach by way of Morocco, where they lived for two years and had a seafood restaurant business.

I would change the name. After they declared bankruptcy the name leaves a 772.68 bad fishy taste in my mouth! But if they want to keep it we would be glad to work with them…

Wonder if they will be honoring the gift cards people got under the previous owners or the outstanding bills they didn’t pay to area vendors.

Very doubtful regarding the debt to vendors, unless they agreed to do so when they purchased the restaurant. However, honoring the gift cards, even if done on a percentage of face value would be a fantastic gesture.
