prom_tiger_mountain_2015A few years ago, the Grey Eagle hosted a grown up prom night, and folks seemed to enjoy it. That run ended, and in more recent years, The Bywater has picked up a prom night event that they’ve schedule on or around Valentine’s Day. Asheville’s also seen gay proms and beard club proms and more.

Now Tiger Mountain is getting in the prom game, and owner Sean tells me that he’s had a great response. It’s coming up on July 25. Here are the deets:

7/25: Prom Night with Gold Light – This has blow up fairly unexpectedly. Asheville has apparently been clamoring for another prom night. Live doo-wop and soul from Gold Light. The event page that I just put up and has more than 200 rsvps.

There’s plenty more hot music at Tiger Mountain, btw. Here’s a quick look:

7/20: Chain and the Gang with Charlie Megira – So rad Svenonius of The Make-Up is coming to town!
“Chain & the Gang is led by Svenonius, the prime mover behind the bands Nation of Ulysses and The Make-Up, and author of two books, Psychic Soviet and Supernatural Strategies for Making a Rock ‘n’ Roll Group, not to mention online talk show host and auteur filmmaker. The band deals in a new genre called CRIME ROCK that updates rock ‘n’ roll, blues, and gospel music or vocal quartets from the late 50s /early 60s for the discerning few.”

7/21: Plastic Pinks – High energy garage rock from Miami. Here is the world’s shortest documentary that happens to be about them: https://youtu.be/hX_y37zL-OY

7/24: The Toasters (!!!) – Old school, third-wave ska legends! This is going to be a sold out show for sure. I saw these guys like 10 times in high school haha… Here’s their Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Toasters

Anyways, I hope you can use some of this! Feel free to bug me anytime if you have any questions. The rest of our Tiger Mountain events are listed here.
