Art is a Human Right for Everyone: Works from Open Hearts Art Center

The Open Hearts Art Center is an AVL non-profit that empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities to create and share art.

Gus Cutty Reception @ Satellite Gallery (Broadway Arts District)

“Moet with Medusa”

Gus Cutty is a WNC-based muralist and spraycan artist just chosen (last year) to participate in Tag the Jewels Project for Run the Jewels (!)

River Music Fest in the RAD

Catch live music by the French Broad with this series of live shows that run through the summer. It’s in its 5th year and runs the second Friday of every month. Grab a beer at the newly opened New Belgium Liquid Center Tasting Room if you need a break from the sweet sounds.

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

10 am; begins in Pack Square

This annual walk raises awareness about rape and sexual violence by asking its (male) participants to dress in high heels and dresses and walk around downtown Asheville. Get your cameras ready.

Urban Gypsy Outdoor Pop-Up Shop

One day of shopping for all of your vintage and unique fashion needs and desires! Clothing, accessories, music, massage, tarot readings and henna art onsite!

Weaverville Art Safari

Saturday and Sunday in Weaverville

Come see what’s happening in the Weaverville arts scene! Some incredibly talented folks are working and living in Weaverville; now’s your chance to discover something amazing. The Art Safari is open from 10-5 Saturday and Sunday and artists will have their studios open for strolling.

Celebrate the matriarchy this Mother’s Day by treating your mom to a screening of The Witch at Asheville Pizza and Brewing. It’s a little Kubrick, a little Bergman, a little Tarkovsky, and a whole lotta creepy. Check out the trailer here.
