OK, I’m admitting up front that I’m using this post shamelessly to put up a few pics of beautiful women in bikinis. But this is an Ashvegas business, so I’m legit in commenting. (That’s my story, and I’m stickin’ to it.)

Let me start by saying that I admire any person, any entrepeneur, who’s willing to put themselves, and their money, on the line for a vision. It takes a lot to do that.

On the other hand, I think there are times when some people just have too much time, and money, to spend. So they come up something. Something like bikinis with jewelry.

Jamaica in all its tropical beauty is, I will admit, inspiring. What I had to swallow along with that was the utter poverty I saw outside the tourist traps. The island is awash in violence and people live in pitiful conditions. And I didn’t even visit the ghettos of Kingston.

Bikinis with jewelry. That is not a bad thing. I’m just not sure how far you can take this business model.

Check this link for the full story. Here’s a tidbit:

Alexandra Gritta credits an underwater dance with a sea turtle with inspiring her new company.

In 16 years of scuba diving, the Asheville resident had seen her share of underwater life all around the world, but nothing like her up-close encounter with the turtle in the warm waters of Jamaica two years ago.

“We did a spiral dance. It was amazing. It let me touch it, and I got the interconnectedness of all things,” said the former Los Angeles actress-turned-designer.

Later on the beach, Gritta got the idea for a new line of swimwear that would give something back to the sea as well as better bikinis for women around the world.

Better than outsourcing to China or India! How the heck is the island going to get out of poverty unless courages people like her bring in jobs and opportunities.
The suits are beautiful! I’ve been to Jamaica many times and went outside of the tourist areas. The poverty is the result of corrupt governments and poor education. Thank goodness someone has the guts to offer the island some work instead of going to China where workers are slaves. The suits are stunning and I’m ordering one for my wife. Thanks for directing me to the site!!
