hotel_indigo_1_asheville_2015Correction July 6: The buyer of The Indigo, Summit Hospitality 123 LLC, is not the owner of The Dunhill, as I originally reported. I apologize for the confusion.

Original post July 2: Hotel Indigo in downtown Asheville sold recently for $33 million, according to property records. The seller was Hospitality Lodging Investors. The buyer was Summit Hospitality 123 LLC.

I don’t know what, if anything, will change for the hotel and its employees. But I think it’s worth noting. When the Hotel Indigo opened in 2009, it was the first new downtown hotel built in years, because the thinking was that hotel guests wanted to stay at easy-to-get-to spots just off the interstate and outside of stale downtown. Now Asheville has a booming downtown, and there’s a new wave of downtown hotel building that will add some 3,000 new rooms – most of them downtown – to the Asheville market.

One bit of trivia: Hotel Indigo is built on the former location of the old Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce building.
