billy_zane_2014Celebrities were out on the town Wednesday night in downtown Asheville.

First, actor Billy Zane was spotted at The Southern on Wednesday night by local trivia master Kipper Schauer, who reported it via Twitter. No word on why Zane was in town. Zane, probably most well-known for his role in Titanic, just signed on to a new project, according to hollywoodreporter.com:

Billy Zane has joined the cast of indie Supreme Ruler, starring Ron Livingston.
Marking the feature directorial debut of Duane Edwards, Supreme Ruler also will star Natalie Zea, Vincent D’Onofrio, Marcia Gay Harden and Brian Geraghty.
The drama with comedic sensibilities follows a small-town man (Livingston) who dreams of becoming “Supreme Ruler” of his local Buffalo Lodge, but is challenged by a hard-drinking womanizer (D’Onofrio)

Also Wednesday night, actor Zach Galifianakis, who is filming a new comedy in Asheville this summer, was spotted at Cucina 24 restaurant with Lorne Michaels, a producer on the film. The two were sitting with a group of about 10 people.

Count the ‘famous person spotted/and or filming in Asheville’ articles in the past 30 days, vs. living wage, affordable housing, gentrification, clean water vs. CTS and fracking is so legal here now articles. 30 days is such a short attention span, eh?

I even re-watched “The Phantom” before posting.

I saw Kristen Wig making breakfast in my kitchen this morning. She was wearing my old polo shirt.

      Ditto.

I will admit to being disappointed that Catherine Zeta-Jones has not lived up to the potential that I saw in her American film debut.

And Billy Zane seems to be less relevant than he may deserve (IMHO). Maybe starring with D’Onofrio and Livingston (Goooaaaallll….!) will help bring back the lustre.

Man, Orbit, I’m not here to rain on you, but “The Phantom” was my absolute favorite comic book character of all time, but I dunno about that movie. I do still rent DVDs from you.
And I love the mural that mocks television with a side of girl and wildlife for the record.

It’s all about Treat Williams in the movie. He hammed it up.
