Here’s the word from shop-owner Jodi Rhoden of the West Asheville bakery:

Short Street Cakes is soliciting submissions of resumes for the position of General Manager at Short Street Cakes.  The position, which begins October 1st, will start at 20-30 hours a week and will increase to 40 hours a week in Spring 2013.

The primary responsibilities of the General Manager are:

-Wedding Cake services coordination

-Ingredients inventory and ordering

-light bookkeeping, maintaining a budget

-assisting in creating and maintaining employee schedule

-assisting shop owner in all day-to-day operations

-working with staff to ensure product consistency and quality

-Participate in production shifts and front end (customer service) shifts

The skills, qualities, and resources required for this position include:

-Experience in baking and icing cakes (formal culinary training not required)

-experience in customer service (restaurant or bakery)

-thorough knowledge and love of Southern-style cakes

-Friendly, intelligent, and professional comport

-flexibility, adaptability, honesty, and integrity

-knowledge and competence in computer skills including many platforms of social media, as well as microsoft word and excel

-reliable transportation
