More of what’s going around:

Shipt has announced that it will begin delivering fresh groceries to Asheville residents next week. Here’s how it works: pay $99 to become a member, then use the Shipt app to order your groceries. Annual members who sign up before Feb. 28 will get $25 off their first order. Shipt uses its own community of shoppers who hand pick every item for delivery in as soon as one hour after the order is placed, according to a press release. Shipt recently announced it would begin deliveries in Winston-Salem and Greensboro in March, as well. The company, which launched in 2014, will service five metro areas and more than 1.5 million North Carolina households with the openings.

-Internationally known Western North Carolina musicians David Holt, David Wilcox, and David LaMotte, will perform at 8 p.m. on March 24 at the Diana Wortham Theatre. More:

For this one night, these three acclaimed songwriters will present some of their favorite songs by other writers, a collection of rare gems found along their travels. This is the third year that the Three Davids have played at Diana Wortham, and the first two were to full houses. Tickets are $35 and ($25 for students and children under 12) available online.

The Power Flower Project looks cool.

-An expanded Curate restaurant on Biltmore Avenue is opening this spring.

-The new Manicomio Pizza is coming along at 27 Biltmore Ave., just down the hill from Curate. The restaurant is going into the former Hannah Flanagan’s space.

-Malaprop’s will host Literary Karaoke with Asheville musician Laura Blackley at 6 p.m. on March 24. It’s the downtown bookshop’s “re-imagining of the lost art of salon. We invite you to read aloud from your favorite works of literature and give it all you’ve got,” states a press release.

Tickets are now on sale for a special event benefiting The Literacy Council of Buncombe County at Twisted Laurel in downtown Asheville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 25. Here’s more:

Spellbound Children’s Bookshop presents internationally award-winning author Marcus Segdwick on the publication day of Saint Death, his newest novel for young adults.

Guests are asked to arrive at 5:30 to eat and mingle from 5:30 until the presentation begins at 6:00. Marcus will be speaking from 6:00 to approximately 7:00 and will sign books directly afterward. The event will be emceed by fellow young adult author Allan Wolf.

Each $45 ticket includes appetizers and a non-alcoholic beverage plus a copy of Saint Death to be signed by the author. Event details and ticket purchase online at www.spellboundbookshops.com.

-For your calendar in April:

The fifth annual Sound Effects concert to benefit Asheville Music School will be held on Thursday, April 27 from 6 – 9:30 PM at Isis Music Hall. The featured headliner will showcase AMS teachers and students performing The Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour album in its entirety, with full instrumentation.

“We had such an amazing experience last year performing the entire Abbey Road, that we decided to perform another Beatles record,” said AMS Assistant Director Ryan Reardon. “It’s a really fun record, with songs like ‘I Am The Walrus’ and ‘All You Need Is Love.’” All proceeds from the event will benefit Asheville Music School’s operations, mission, and programs, particularly the school’s growing outreach and scholarship programs.

Tickets to the event are $15 in advance and $18 at the door; $7 for children under 12; and free for ages 2 and younger. Advance tickets may be purchased on the Isis website at isisasheville.com, or in person at Asheville Music School. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy fine dining at Isis prior to the show; a portion of dinner sales will be donated to AMS. Dinner reservations are recommended and may be made by calling Isis at (828) 575-2737.
