In celebration of national Week of the Young Child, Smart Start of Buncombe County is hosting a family-friendly concert at the Orange Peel on Saturday, April 5, 2014 featuring Secret Agent 23 Skidoo.

The concert is a fundraiser for Smart Start of Buncombe County, which funds local programs for young children, teachers and families like Play and Learn Groups. Play and Learn is a free program for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, which helps children develop pre-literacy and social skills through hands-on activities and the use of evidence-based materials from the Center for Early Learning and Literacy.

“Ninety percent of children’s brain development occurs in the first 2000 days of their life. The educational experiences children receive during these formative five years are critical to their long-term success,” explained Amy Barry, Executive Director of Smart Start of Buncombe County.

The April 5th concert begins 11:00am; doors open at 10:30am.Tickets are $8.00; children under 2 are free. To purchase tickets go to the Orange Peel box office or www.theorangepeel.net. PNC Bank is the exclusive corporate sponsor of this event.
