Dozens of celebrants Tuesday night donned habits to mimic Asheville’s iconic Sister Bad Habit and sip a new beer named in her honor. The amber beer was a collaboration between two of Asheville’s great craft breweries – Thirsty Monk and Asheville Pizza & Brewing. It honors Sister Bad Habit a character created by Jim Lauzon of the LaZoom comedy bus tour. The naughty nun is so beloved that she’s practically a spokesmodel for Asheville aka Sin City. And this comes just as Travel + Leisure named Asheville the quirkiest city in the U.S.

Sister Bad Habit can frequently be seen biking around the downtown on her signature tall bike, and is know to frequent the Thirsty Monk and Asheville Brewing’s during her tours of duty.  This week, Asheville Brewing and Thirsty Monk have teamed up to create the new Sister Bad Habit Ale, an amber ale as unique as the good sister herself.  At 5 percent alcohol, this brew really isn’t bad, but it may well be habit forming.

Brewing credit goes to Asheville Brewing’s brewers Doug Riley and Pete Langheinrich, along with Thirsty Monk brewer Norm Penn (who’s been pretty busy lately).  Look for it on draft Sept 2 from 5:30 pm at Asheville Brewing and the Thirsty Monk, along with a visit from the bad sister.
