Here’s a look at Wednesday’s pool-side VIP party on the third floor of the Aloft Hotel in downtown Asheville. On a perfectly beautiful spring evening, Moogfest VIPs snacked, drank, ate and networked as celebrity DJs mixed music. North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory made an unexpected appearance, apparently trying to blend in with casual wear and dark sunglasses. Photos by Ashvegas After Dark photographer Mary Juliano.

The cover story continues to evolve:

“Well I was always going to come to be on the panel,” McCrory told News 13 seconds after he arrived at Asheville’s Aloft hotel. “But they thought it might add to the security costs due to the protesters and I didn’t want anything to disturb this event.”

Sounds like he’s saying he had a choice in whether he attended or not…

As a nearby resident and involuntary listener, the “celebrity DJ” music was horrible. Spotify on random likely would have been much better.

As someone said, ” Did they choose that music DELIBERATELY”?

So the Gov. just came to the party and had no problem speaking to any media outlet present? Something tells me it was a “f-you” to the protesters. Seems kind of slimy.

Of course it’s slimy. It’s Pat McCrory!

So much for his “scheduling conflict.”

“Apparently mayor Esther Manheimer personally called and invited to him to an exclusive pool party atop one of her law firm’s client’s hotels.

The news media were supposedly excluded.”

WLOS actually interviewed him at the party. I saw the interview on my television.
Would love to hear their definition of “news media” if it excludes TV reporters.

Murphy, I don’t know who called whom. But the media was not excluded from the poolside party on the third floor of the Aloft Hotel. I had an invite, but I couldn’t make it until 7 p.m., and the governor was gone by then.

Unless Orbit is invited, it’s not a party. Jamie can brighten any room.

After all this, the Governor of North Carolina snuck into Moogfests “VIP” party?

I can’t believe the protestors didn’t think to set up roadblocks at every entrance to Asheville & search vehicles for smuggled Governors.
