burning_can_2014 Oskar Blues Brewery in Brevard is planning to host a North Carolina version of Burning Can Beer Festival, an event it has held at its Colorado headquarters the past couple of years.

Burning Can Beer Fest in Brevard will be held July 5. It looks like it will be the usual beer festival mix of brew, food and music. More details are to come. The event will be announced on Saturday at Asheville’s Winter Warmer beer festival.

Here’s how the Daily Camera described the Lyons, Colo., version of Burning Can in 2012:

This is the second time Oskar Blues Brewing Company will host the festival, which features notable canned craft beers from more than 35 breweries, and the first time the event will be held concurrently with the Lyons Outdoor Games, a multi-sport competition held Friday through Sunday that includes kayaking, biking, fly fishing, climbing, and even a few events for dogs.

“Part of the reason for putting beer in a can is the active lifestyle, and the games reflect the vibe and energy that’s such a part of where we live,” says Oskar Blues Marketing Director Chad Melis. “It’s a huge event that speaks to the roots of Oskar Blues, and we want to get all of our beer friends to come out and help us celebrate.”

Participating breweries include local favorites such as Upslope, Avery, Breckenridge Brewery, and Ska Brewing, as well as out-of-state breweries such as 21st Amendment and Golden Road from California, Intuition Ale and Tampa Bay Brewing Company from Florida, and Maui Brewing Co and Kona Brewing from Hawaii.

The event also features outdoor-oriented vendors, more than 10 food trucks including the Oskar Blues Bonewagon and live music from Interstate Stash Express.
