Haywood Road continues its growth: right next to the brand-new Asheville Sandwich Company is Odd’s Cafe, a new coffeeshop with a light menu of savory pastries and sweet baked goods.

It’s in a long-untenanted building that’s been completely remodeled. Of note: a spacious and breezy back deck.

Owner Audrie Blomquist says her new venture is open until 10 pm nightly, and if neighborhood traffic will support it, will stay open even later on Friday and Saturday night. Her menu currently includes a tender and tasty egg and cheese muffin, key lime pie, lavender lemon shortbread cookies, coconut cake, flourless chocolate torte and more. (That muffin was just as good as it looked.)

Audrie’s nickname is “Aud.” Thus the name. Hot and cold drinks include drip coffee, pour overs, honey cinnamon lattes, house-made chai, cold-brew coffee and loose-leaf tea by the pot. Coffee by Counter Culture.

Blomquist says she’s starting small with baked goods and bagels, but more food offerings are forthcoming, along with beer and wine. Bagelheads, she says hers are real Brooklyn bagels shipped to Asheville partially baked to finish baking at the cafe.

800 Haywood Road.

I had a pot of tea last night that was amazing and a caramel cupcake that is to die for. Very friendly staff and laid back environment.
