Saturday’s the last day for La Carreta, the Merrimon Avenue Mexican restaurant scheduled for demolition to make room for Asheville’s new Trader Joe’s coming in 2013.

It’s located on what will become the market’s parking lot.

La Carreta is located at 100 Merrimon, near Greenlife.

UPDATED: Reader comments that there’s new life for La Carreta in Weavervegas.

It should be mentioned that they are re-opening in Weaverville in the next few weeks (next to Kerr Drug), according to a server at the current location, and the ‘La Carreta’ sign at the new location.

Very exciting news, as we live in Mars Hill now, and when we lived on Chestnut St. La Carreta was our favorite Mexican place!
