New TV production gets $4 million in N.C. funding to film in WNC: Could it be ‘Dirty Dancing’ remake?

dirty_dancing_remake_2_2015North Carolina officials have announced that three television/film productions have been awarded a total of $10 million from the state’s new N.C. Film and Entertainment Grant, including $4 million for an unnamed production to be filmed in Western North Carolina. That production could be the announced television remake of Dirty Dancing. That remake is set to be shot around Asheville this spring, according to the Wilmington blog Wilmywood Daily.

Season Three of Under the Dome will get $5 million to shoot in and around Wilmington, N.C.; something called Late in the Season will get $1 million; and the unnamed Lionsgate television production will get $4 million.

Allison Shearmur productions and ABC (along with Lionsgate) is the crew putting together the Dirty Dancing remake.
