Press release:

Two years in the making, the Chai Pani team officially unleashes its 45 minute food & travel documentary, “Cutting Chai,” with a world premiere at Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Ga.

On Thursday, March 10, film enthusiasts and food lovers are invited to get a first look at the team’s mindblasting Indian excursion through an interactive, culinary-inspired viewing experience. In addition to a grand screening presented by Atlanta Film Festival, film-goers will receive an exclusive taste of executive chef and restaurateur Meherwan Irani’s upcoming and highly-anticipated Indian street grilling concept: Botiwalla – the soon-to-be newest addition to Ponce City Market’s Central Food Hall.

The one-of-a-kind documentary covers one of the South’s most notable Indian street food concepts as two-time James Beard-nominated chef Meherwan Irani takes his Chai Pani crew of head chefs through 10 cities in 10 days by trains, planes, and auto-rickshaws, eating everything in sight.

Intimate, funny, touching, and irreverent – Cutting Chai is an explosion of color and sound immersing viewers in the raw beauty of India’s rural countryside, the opulence of it’s riches, and the culinary heart and soul of the country and it’s people.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. with a red carpet reception featuring Indian street snacks inspired by the documentary, bespoke keg cocktails, and classic Indian sodas. The screening will begin promptly at 7 p.m., followed by a Q&A with Meherwan and the Cutting Chai filmmakers. Tickets can be purchased for $15 at www.cuttingchaimovie.com.
