Lace up your shoes and grab a paintbrush for the LEAF Art Dash Asheville. This 5.5k course will start and finish in Downtown Asheville on Saturday, August 1st, 2015. The run will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with a chip-timed 5.5k for individual runners. The course will travel through the city’s downtown and surrounding area.

At 10 a.m. a Friend and Families Relay will commence from the start line. Teams of four people will compete in a relay. At each exchange point, team members will be painting a project that will then be donated back to the city of Asheville.

“This run will directly support LEAF Schools and Streets bringing arts to our local youth in collaboration with local partners,” said Jennifer Pickering, LEAF Community Arts Executive Director.

LEAF has partnered with the Asheville-based SuperFly Fabulous Events to plan, implement and manage the run.

“We are thrilled to work with LEAF on the development of this fun racing concept. For the last six years, we’ve developed more than a dozen events from Tennessee to Colorado. It’s exciting to be working on our home turf on an event that has such potential for the city’s downtown,” said Stephanie Carson, Director of SuperFly Fabulous Events.

In an effort to involve the community, LEAF is holding a logo contest for LEAF Art Dash Asheville for interested artists. Artwork is due no later than March 23rd. The winning entrant will receive a custom prize package from LEAF. The LEAF Art Dash Asheville will be the kick off to a special LEAF event to be officially announced at the end of March. Pickering says the run is the perfect way to start out what will be a fun day for individuals and families.
