HiveMind Brew House

HiveMind Brew House is planned for this building on the left at the corner of South Lexington and Hilliard avenues. The building is the former site of Asheville Music School. It’s near Storm rum bar and restaurant, the Orange Peel music venue and Wicked Weed Brewing.

HiveMind Brewhouse, a new craft brewery, is in the works for Asheville’s South Slope. The brewery has secured a sweet location – the former Asheville Music School at the corner of South Lexington Avenue and Hilliard Avenue. That location is right across Hilliard from Storm rum bar and restaurant, while the ever-popular Orange Peel music venue and Wicked Weed Brewing are just a stone’s throw away across Lexington.

Other HiveMind Brewhouse details are to be announced. Look for something to be open in the space at 101 S. Lexington Ave. by summer, if everything goes according to plan. south_slope_the_asheville_map

Need a refresher on everything that’s happening on the Beer Slope south of the city’s central business district? Here you go:

-Chefs Elliott Moss and Meherwan Irani are planning to open a new barbecue restaurant called Buxton Hall in the former Standard Paper building on Banks Avenue, where Vortex Doughnuts has opened and where the new Public School Bar is planning to open later this year.

-Catawba Brewing’s new boutique brewery is also under construction in the same Standard Paper building on Banks. It, too, should be open later this year.

If HiveMind Brew House opens as planned, it would be the eighth craft brewer on the South Slope. The others are: Hi-Wire Brewing (expanding to new spot near Biltmore Village), Wicked Weed (its new Funkatorium sour beer tasting room and barrel house), Burial Beer (recently expanded), Twin Leaf BrewingAsheville Pizza & Brewing, and Green Man Brewing (new expansion under construction).
