New Belgium Brewing announced recently that its new East Coast brewery in Asheville is now 75 percent complete. The Colorado-based company is also on track to begin making beer in Asheville later this year, with a public opening coming early next year.
-We are on track with construction and are about 75% complete with the brewery building! We are still working on the Liquid Center (tasting room) and exterior spaces and still on track to be brewing by the end of 2015 and hosting you for a beer in Asheville in early 2016.
-Our mechanical and electrical is being finalized. Brewery IT is being installed, packaging and bottling piping is being completed and pipe work is being installed. Windows are going in. These installations will continue through August when we start commissioning the brewery. Commissioning is where we test every valve and pipe, lever and seal to make sure it works the way need it to and will take a couple months.
-Structural steel is in place at the Liquid Center and radiant floors are in place. Next we’ll see walls go up and things will move quickly from there.
-Process Water Treatment Building Concrete: On the north end of our site, near Hazel Mill and Emma Roads, you may have noticed a pole barn-esque building. This is our process water treatment facility.
-Friday, July 3, 2015– Morning Concrete Pour– site active by about 3 a.m. and pouring starting around 4 a.m. and lasting about 10-12 hours. To have enough time to pour and set the amount of concrete needed, we have obtained City permits to start pouring concrete in the early morning. There will be generators and light towers, as well as back up beeping from the trucks.
CITY OF ASHEVILLE PROJECTS ON CRAVEN
If you’ve been on or by Craven Street lately, you can see the great complete street, sidewalks and all, that is taking shape. Craven Street updates are available here. The French Broad River Greenway Westbank Greenway is coming along nicely as well. Penland Creek, which bisects our site and was named by the community in April 2015, is under going a major restoration and transformation (more on that soon as well!).
