moogfest_building_press_2014Moog Music Inc. is hard at work renovating a building it owns next to its manufacturing facility on Broadway Street. The building featured a large mural of the late Bob Moog, painted by Asheville artist Dustin Spagnola a couple of years back. (Here’s what the Bob Moog mural looked liked.)

The mural is gone and the remodeling work will create a space to house the dozens of bloggers, photographers, television and newspaper reporters who will descend upon Asheville for the five-day Moogfest event in April. The big outdoor stage for the event will be on the street right outside the building, which I’m calling a media center for lack of a better term. Broadway will be closed off for the event from the interstate overpass on the south end to the Five Points intersection on the north side. The work is separate from other Moog Music construction plans.

Anticipation is building for Moogfest 2014 as speakers and musical acts continue to be announced. Moogfest is coming together this year as a technology expo, as well as a music event. Here’s the Moogfest 2014 background.

I totally agree – I am totally sad to lose that mural as it was one of the best in town.
