There are a number of local efforts happening now, or soon, to raise money for Bahamian relief efforts following the devastating effects of Hurricane Dorian. Here’s a quick look:

Packs Tavern will host a “dining day out” to benefit the Bahamas Red Cross Society on Wednesday (Sept. 18). Red Cross volunteers will be on hand to accept donations. Packs Tavern plans to donate 15 percent of all sales to relief efforts.

The Block off Biltmore will host a Bahamas Benefit Bash at 4 p.m. on Sept. 22. The event will be hosted by Dorsey Parker’s Big Benefit Band.

Jeff Sipe & Friends will host a benefit for Hurricane Dorian relief in the Bahamas on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at The Grey Eagle. There will be multiple acts on two stages (I don’t know everyone who has signed up, but I do know that singer-songwriter Jane Kramer and members of Free Planet Radio will be performing.) Donations will be accepted at the door for this all-ages benefit concert.

Hearts With Hands has teamed up with Ingles Markets and iHeart Radio Asheville to collect supplies and monetary donations. Hearts With Hands has already sent a couple of shipments of items like toiletries and bottled water. Go to heartswithhands.org for more info.

The Prem Rawat Foundation, which has a connection to Asheville through Jake Frankel’s work with the nonprofit, is raising money and recently made a grant of $45,000 to Americares for Hurricane Dorian relief in the Bahamas.Donate here.
