Land of Sky Adventures, an online guide to all things outdoors in western North Carolina, is gearing up for an Aug. 1 launch date.

Founder Eric Crews hopes the site will be a useful resource not only for those vacationing in the area, but also locals looking to explore new adventures in their own backyard. In addition to featuring over 100 outdoor adventures in western North Carolina, the site also offers an interactive map with information on local gear shops, guide services, restaurants, breweries and overnight accommodations.

“We wanted the site to provide useful information that would help inspire people to get outside and go on an adventure in the mountains of North Carolina,” Crews said. “With so many great hikes, climbing areas, mountain biking trails, paddling opportunities and everything else to explore, we realized there was no shortage of information to be found on the web, but we did find there wasn’t a one-stop site for all different types of outdoor activities.”

Crews said he believes Land of Sky Adventures will change that.

In addition to offering adventure sports, the site also features guides to local golf courses, ziplines and disc golf courses. In the future, Crews said he wants to add farm tours and other family-friendly activities to the site as well.

“We want to have something for everyone, whether they’re interested in bombing their mountain bike down steep, fast trails, finding a new climbing area or simply looking for a great swimming hole to cool off in on a hot summer day,” he said.

The site also offers users the chance to add their own adventures, business listings and events for free. Businesses looking to customize their listings and take advantage of several premium features that includes a website link, one-click calling and the option to create special offers can upgrade their listings for a charge of $100 per year.

Crews hopes the site will be widely adopted by not only businesses, but outdoor enthusiasts as well.

Visitors to the site can also read feature articles on outdoor adventure sports, check out gear reviews, read up on the latest techniques for outdoor video and photography and read interviews with outdoor sports athletes in North Carolina.
