Former Florida governor Jeb Bush is in town to support former Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory at a fundraiser for McCrory’s candidacy for N.C. governor.

From the AC-T’s political blog on Wednesday:

The two are attending a fundraiser for McCrory hosted by the Women for McCrory coalition. It costs $500, $250 and $35, a plate and will be at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Biltmore Village.

The McCrory campaign had planned a press conference at 9:30 a.m. but today said that has been cancelled.

“We hoped to have enough time for an availability but had to adjust the schedule due to time commitments before the event and immediately after,” said McCrory spokesman Ricky Diaz.

According to the post, Progress NC will fly a plane towing a banner reading “Who Pays McCrory.com” over the event in protest.  McCrory has refused to release his tax returns, and the group says this information should be available to voters.

McCrory’s campaign states that Bush and McCrory will take questions from the audience but not from journalists.

The former mayor faces Democratic Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton in the fall.
